03/09/10 - 2010 Forgotten Coast Lighthouse Challenge

If you are an avid lighthouse follower, an adventure-seeker or just someone looking for a break away from your ordinary weekend than I’ve got just the challenge. As a celebration of Florida Lighthouse Day, a day set aside by proclamation of FL Gov. Charlie Crist to honor Florida’s remaining 30 historic lighthouses, the four lighthouses scattered along the shore of the Gulf of Mexico will be hosting a mini challenge. The Forgotten Coast Lighthouse Challenge will take place on April 24th and 25th from 10:00 am to 5 pm.

From west to east the participating lighthouses are Cape San Blas Lighthouse, Cape St. George Light, Crooked River Lighthouse and St. Mark’s Lighthouse. The challenge route, from Cape San Blas to St. Marks is about 100 miles, most of which is along Highway 98. The challenge can be done in one day, but why not make a weekend of it and stay at one of the beach houses offered by Pristine Properties and enjoy the beach, the weather and the seafood while you’re here.

Participants will be given the opportunity to visit and climb each of the lighthouses in the Florida Panhandle. Also as a participant in the challenge, you will receive a souvenir at each lighthouse and a special souvenir for climbing and visiting all four. What a great way to experience this natural coastline and all of its rich culture and history. There are gift shops at each of the lighthouses, so pick up some memorabilia along the way.
Tickets are available at each of the lighthouses to be purchased the day of event. The price for a single ticket is $10 or $25 for a family of up to five members. There will be no other entry fees that will apply and with each ticket (individual or family) you will receive a commemorative tote bag while supplies last.

Come be a part of the first-ever Forgotten Coast Lighthouse Challenge!
