Port St. Joe blends small-town Southern character with easy access to some of the Gulf Coast's most beautiful natural landscapes. The historic downtown offers locally owned shops, galleries, and restaurants along Reid Avenue, where visitors can browse for art, antiques, and handmade goods before sitting down to a plate of fresh oysters or grilled grouper.
Nature lovers will find plenty to explore just outside of town. St. Joseph Peninsula State Park is consistently ranked among the best beaches in the country, featuring miles of undeveloped shoreline, coastal dunes, and pine flatwoods teeming with wildlife. The park's bay side is a top destination for scalloping in season, and its trails offer excellent birdwatching, especially during migration. Port St. Joe also serves as a convenient launching point for boat tours, offshore fishing charters, and paddling trips through the calm waters of St. Joseph Bay.

5: Recuperation Cottage was an excellent place to stay. Very clean and quiet. Everything was found as was expected. I didn't realize until day before trip no stove and small refrigerator but that was fine I took a skillet that was basically all We needed for couple of items and we left some stuff in coolers with ice until we made room in fridge. Wonderful stay with no complaints.- Reviewed On: 8/3/2026

We had a wonderful stay in Port St. Joe! Walking distance to the beach and good restaurants! Not much of a night life, everything closes by 9 so make sure to get out early for eating, but definitely quaint and what we were asking for! The home was immaculate, thank you again Amy for the peaceful stay!- Reviewed On: 7/23/2026

Owners went for style and not function. Ad said smart tv.Have never stayed anywhere where we couldn’t just turn on the tv and watch at least something. Had to call agent to find out there’s no tv service unless you have a subscription that you upload to the TVs there and then remove before you leave. HDMI cord is neede for a smart tv. No plug ins in the kitchen except where ref and microwave are. Had to move things into dining rm to use. A bar & plugs on the kit side would work so much better and sensible in case people sitting at the bar. Furn not arranged so that is convenient to watch tv. Recliners should be in front of tv not straight back chairs. Actually whole liv rm could be arranged better. Table between chairs is an accident waiting to happen with the odd shape and dips in it. You get 1 roll of tp which is not enough. 1 laundry det of which you have to use to start laundry after you strip beds and towels. Luckily we brought more. There was 2 sets of salt and pepper shakers but none of these 2 basic spices. Bed sheet was yellow. Didn’t need the cloth napkins and all the the throw pillows. Basic tv is needed!!! Since no closets at least put a hook over the bedroom doors to hang clothes. An apt size range would be nice & would fit where the microwave is if you put a bar & plug ins in the kitchen. The area was great and we are already looking at places for next year down there. But, BASIC TV is a must!!- Reviewed On: 10/14/2025

2025: Note we didn't call to have them fix these things. 1 bedroom ceiling fan didn't work. The coffee pot lid to top of glass broken. It would have been nice to have a hot plate and not just an air fryer. Other than that it was nice, clean and close to beach access.- Reviewed On: 7/13/2025

Cute Place: House is decorated and furnished very cute. Great location to beach. This part of the beach is in a great spot as not as crowded as other areas more toward heart of Mexico Beach. It’s disclosed that there is not a cool top and only a mini fridge. We did ok with this as usually ate dinner out and simple meals for breakfast and lunch. Would not work well for those wanting to cook a lot.- Reviewed On: 7/5/2025

Amy was an incredible host, so responsive and kind! Her place was exactly as described and a perfect place to enjoy a weekend at the beach with my 2 dogs. It was very reasonably priced, especially the pet fee (I have 2 85lb dogs and normally pay an arm and a leg for them to travel with me). It was clean and cute and right across from the beach. I enjoyed my stay and would come back and would recommend to anyone looking to stay in Port St. Joe! Thank you for providing a place for a lovely weekend away, Amy!!!- Reviewed On: 6/2/2025

This is a great Airbnb that is an easy walk to the beach and a 10 minute drive to the town of Port St Joe. We really enjoyed our stay here and Amy was a great communicator. I didn’t realize this from the photos but there is not a stovetop. Just a sink, mini fridge, and a few basic appliances (microwave, toaster.) This did not affect us in a negative way, but just wanted to note this for any future guest. Also there are no closets or drawers for your clothes to be put away in.- Reviewed On: 4/16/2025

My husband and I had a lovely Valentine stay at the cottage with our two older fur babies. It was just the right size for all of us and so clean and welcoming. We loved that it was one level and easy for both of our dogs and my husband (recovering from knee surgery and other health issues) to navigate. We also loved the closeness of the beach. I walked the short distance over with the dogs and he drove over with the beach stuff. The neighborhood seemed safe and friendly and we enjoyed how close the restaurants and shopping were as well. It was the perfect place and getaway we needed.- Reviewed On: 2/17/2025

Nice little cottage, close to the beach. The walk to the beach wasn’t long, we had kids and hated the walk across the main road to access the beach, but it honestly was on only bad during the afternoon hours, early morning, late at night, hardly no traffic and easy to cross. Maybe a 3 -5 min walk. Description of place was dead on, host was nice and responsive. Perfect space for our small family.- Reviewed On: 7/15/2024

This place was very close to the beach which was great and you can easily walk there! You have to drive to the restaurants. The main house is very close making it not feel very private. Host responds quickly to any issues. Love that dogs were allowed!- Reviewed On: 7/11/2024

We stayed for a week! The place is about a block from beach (easy 2 min walk to public access), area is very quiet, and the apartment was very clean! Only downfall was the WiFi only worked a small fraction of the time we were there, but most of our time was spent at the beach so we didn’t mind as much- Reviewed On: 6/9/2024
