One of the things that keeps pulling me back to the Forgotten Coast is how quiet everything feels. Even in the middle of summer, it never feels rushed or overcrowded.The Forgotten Coast of Florida boasts some of the most tranquil and picturesque locales in the Sunshine State. Among these hidden gems, Cape San Blas, Port St. Joe, and Mexico Beach shine the brightest.

Upon arrival at a quaint beachfront cottage, immerse yourself in the comfort of the soft, white sand under your feet and the soothing cadence of the waves as they set a serene backdrop for your retreat.

As the evening sky starts its spectacular display, venture to The White Marlin, renowned for its captivating oceanfront dining experience. Securing a table with an undisturbed view of the horizon, prepare to revel in a culinary journey that highlights the freshest local seafood and flavors. 

I grabbed a seat right before sunset last time I visited The White Marlin, and the timing couldn't have been better. The light reflecting off the Gulf paired with that coconut-crusted grouper made for one of the most peaceful dinners I've had in Port St. Joe.

The menu's standout offerings, from the succulent Char-Grilled Tuna Steak paired with Wasabi Mashed Potatoes and Oyster-Soy Glaze to the delicate Coconut Crusted Grouper accompanied by Caribbean Rice and Lemon Cream Sauce, promise a feast that complements the breathtaking sunset at Cape San Blas. The evening is not merely about witnessing the day's colorful farewell but an exquisite melding of sights, tastes, and sensations, marking an exquisite kickoff to your tranquil escape.

Saturday Morning: Shell Hunting and Exploring at St. Joseph Peninsula State Park

Wake up early and head to St. Joseph Peninsula State Park, located at the tip of Cape San Blas. If you're planning to go shelling, there are two things you shouldn't forget--your bucket and a sense of wonder.

Saturday Afternoon: Kayaking and Lunch in Port St. Joe
After a morning of shell hunting and exploring the natural beauty around Cape San Blas, your journey brings you to the charming bayside town of Port St. Joe. This picturesque locale, nestled along the shores of St. Joseph Bay, is a treasure trove of Southern hospitality mixed with seaside charm. Begin your exploration in the heart of downtown, where a selection of local eateries invites you to indulge in the culinary delights of the region.
