5 Things to Do in the Cape San Blas Area

Spend a day soaking in the Florida sunshine at St. Joseph Peninsula. Stretching 20 miles into the Gulf of Mexico, this natural attraction is known for being the perfect beach day spot.

  1. Look for scallops

The St. Joseph Bay waters are ideal for all sorts of activities, including looking for scallops. The 2023 scallop season will start on August 16 and run through September 24.

Stretching from St. Joseph Peninsula State Park to Salinas Park, the Loggerhead Run Bike Path is an almost nine-mile corridor named for the area?s sea turtles. This trail does allow e-bikes, which makes exploring the entire path a breeze.

  1. Go for a horseback ride

Try a new way to explore the sandy shoreline by saddling up for a horseback riding excursion. Rockin? M Ranch offers hour-long rides that leave from Salinas Park. Your knowledgeable and helpful guide will make sure everyone is comfortable before setting off.

  1. Spot a turtle

Cape San Blas is on the Turtle Trail. Starting in early May, the beaches will be home to endangered Loggerhead turtles making their way to shore to lay eggs. If you see nests marked with caution tape, please leave them alone. You can also volunteer with the SJP Turtle Patrol.
