Summer Ends, Fall Begins

Well, for us, summer has already come and gone. And boy was it a summer! With everyones attention on where the oil was going, it made it a little more difficult for some folks to sit back and relax and enjoy summer like its meant to be enjoyed. Thankfully, that wasnt the case for visitors to our area. All things considered, 2010 proved to be a great summer. Fortunately, our beaches have remained clean for everyone to enjoy. The first physical effects of the Deepwater Horizon oil spill became evident last week. According to reports from Gulf County officials, 24 tar balls and debris were found on the peninsula. While no one ever wants to see these on our beaches, it is certainly minor in the grand scheme of things considering what could have happened. County residents and visitors are grateful that our beaches and waters are still pristine as ever. With the ending of summer comes the beginning of fall with cheaper rates and quieter beaches. Its a great time to be at the beach. The Federal Waters have reopened, and from what I hear fishing has been outstanding. Several properties are running specials and there are great (mostly free) events going on throughout the area. Have I convinced you yet to plan a short getaway to the beach?
